The purpose of this booklet is to provide guidance to candidates intending to pursue engineering degrees and also to engineering graduates seeking registration as Graduate Engineers. The information contained in this booklet will also be useful to organisations related to engineering e.g. Government departments, universities, professional bodies, colleges or schools.
ENGINEERING DEGREES OF LOCAL UNIVERSITY
BEM has accredited engineering degrees in the specified branches offered by the following local universities.
LIST OF ACCREDITED ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES (as at 3.2.2005)
A basic engineering degree which is not in the approved list may be reinforced by a Masters degree in engineering (in the same or related branch) from a university listed in the approved list.
- it is applied engineering research
- the research is in the same or related branch as the candidate’s basic degree;
- an interview is conducted with the candidate.
ACCREDITATION OF OVERSEAS ENGINEERING DEGREES
BEM uses the list of Engineering degrees accredited by each Professional bodies of that country as guideline eg. the United Kingdom – Engineering Council list for Chartered Engineers, the United States – ABET (Professional Engineers) list, Australia – IEAust List etc.
